Phil, though he has left the building has definitely hit the nail on the head.
I have been involved in the lifestyle for 12 years now and it is always difficult for a single guy to get anywhere, either with couples or single ladies.
When contacting a couple or lady I always check the profile and in my email mention that they "were" looking for a straight male, the reason I say "were" is that you will not get a reply, but when you check up on the profile after a day or so the profile has been adjusted. :censored:
If couples or ladies do not set up their profile correctly please expect people to reply, the least you can do in return is reply to the mail. :color:
To the couples who do reply, thank you for your honesty and common courtesy 
@LeeEC, it does not make sense,
under your profile when setting up, there are 6 couple selections available if you only want couples (viewable on your profile), as opposed to "straight male" - straight couple, couple with bi-male, couple with bi female, bi couple, gay male couple, gay female couple, I think that covers all couple options and make it easier for the single guys not to reply to a couple who are more specific.
If you wanted to play on your own then to avoid bi-males contacting both of you, wouldn't it make more sense just to have your own personal profile?
The top 6 options are all for singles, the bottom 6 couples.

1 study does not confirm anything, researchers need to produce something to validatae their pay (sorry )
If there is something that comes out in a medical journal I would agree........after verifying from multiple sources (I am an engineer :twisted: )

Hit the nail on the head, have seen a couple of instances where couples decided to "try" out the lifestyle leading to divorce because half was having fun and the other half got jealous.
This is a serious decision for any couple to make and if there is any hesitance on the side of either partner DO NOT DO IT!!!
My advice is:
Before any couple wants to test the waters think it through, discuss it, agree on it with no reservations and have a cooling down period of at least a month before discussiong it again, it will help avoid any unpleasentness later on and make sure both partners are aligned.
Talk before and after each meet to ensure that everyone is still OK, do this for at least the first 3 meets.
Experience comes later, trust is always first!!

I fear we have a long way to go before this will ever be as spontaneous as it is in Europe.
With our current culture everyone who is willing to do this is to afraid of what can happen if there is a bunch of pushy, arrogant people who cant take NO for an answer.
For now the only solution is to have an arranged meet with carefully selected individuals who have hopefully met before (over coffee sounds good)
As for all of those who judge I say live and let live. If I am happy having fun with my partner/s and no-one is being hurt why interfere, and why should I interfere with what my neighbour is doing, as long as no one is being physically or mentally hurt.
We only live once, live it to it's fullest and ignore the idiots at the roadside who wish they were living the way we do.
