You are right this forum is dead. If you read the posts vs views stats it's very sad. It's always the same people. Not sure why the other members almost never post.
I honestly don't understand why it always gets to the point where someone makes a big deal about the fact that is always the same people here. So what? It's always the same people using the chatroom.
Do you know why? People like to be entertained. Our entire society had become passive. The news, for example, comes passively to us. . By TV. . So we think that's all the news there is and we make no more effort to find more news. .
Now online, the majority come here to be entertained by the minority who participate. Is just a social pattern that we've fallen into.
Look at how some individuals use this site as a place to find free porn. .. See? We're just their free entertainment.
It's the way things are. We have to work within that context. Griping about it will change nothing ;)
Starting new threads might though.
People aren't going to change their patterns unless they have an imperative. .. create imperative. . Create change
I don't think that was the point tho, the same handful of people on here means that you never going to have a buzzing forum because we that are contributing to the forum are too few.
I don't have an issue with it being the same people but we literally need to be doubling the number of forum contributors to keep it fresh. It's an economies of scale thing.
Not only that, but the chat room is ridiculous!!!! Only a few boring and ugly old farts on there that rules the roost! And once you say something a little out of their comfort zone(not rude or swearing), you get banned.
@KC, I too am a great procrastinator, and definitely use this site to help me to avoid getting on with the work that actually needs to be done! (exactly what I am doing right now!!!!)
I am one of those guilty of just visiting here to read without posting (a "forum lurker", even more than I am a "chatroom lurker"!). From what I have seen of the chatroom, there is however a similar situation there too, with 150 logged in but only 10 taking part in the "chat" (for what it's worth, with all their "hello"'s and "brb"'s) - except maybe there the other 140 are watching the five people who are on cam...
As Lee says, we are passive "receivers" of info and entertainment, and want it all dished up for us instead of having to hunt for it or - heaven forbid - have to make it happen! It's easier (lazier!) to just log in and read and absorb, than it is to have to think about, then compose, then type a response! So we come up with excuses like "too busy" or "not enough time"... We are becoming progressively more lazy as a species, the more we can get technology to do thing for us (like open our gates and garage doors, provide on-line shopping, send email rather than write the letter or buy the card and have to walk to the post box to post it, etc.). Lurking here without contributing is just another symptom of our decline into couch potatoism!
Having stirred the pot a bit, now to get back to writing that report I have been putting off for the past few days!...

I was here just fleetingly over the last week as I was really busy!!! Busy with chain jewelry ,so wish I could show you guys, but will not be able to load the pics here!!! and I have of course a new addition to my family of animals...(she is keeping me on my toes) a little feral kitten only 3 weeks old. Nearly drowned in a gutter with the heavy rains we had here in Cpt.
Anyway I read the word procastination and as always my mind slipped TOO naughty things.....prostate issues and castrations and such........
