The mugging incidents reported by Harry_Lorraine and DV8 this weekend are highly regrettable, but this is the kind of thing that I have been warning about for years. There is always an element of risk in dogging, which is why I have long promoted "arranged" dogging as a safer option than random meet-ups. We all need to take every reasonable precaution at all times! And unfortunately the concepts of "reasonable" and "precaution" seem to vanish into thin air when guys think with their dicks instead of their brains!!!! Is there any proof that the muggers are members of SH who have posted anonymously? I think it would be extremely difficult to prove something like that. It could just as easily be that regular criminal elements in society have recognised that there is activity taking place in the relatively secluded areas favoured by doggers, have sussed out the scene and found that there are plenty of easy targets out there, and are "cashing in" on this opportunity. This has been happening in the UK too, where muggers have targeted dogging sites, apparently knowing that their victims are unlikely to be willing to lay charges if they have to explain to the authorities what they were doing there.... It would appear that the option to post anonymously is a function of the SH site that is here to stay. There are occasionally legitimate circumstances where it may be necessary for members to be able to post certain information anonymously (and bear in mind that ALL dogging posts have to be approved by a moderator - the profile name is revealed to the moderator at the time of approval, but not whether the post will appear as "Anonymous" or not ). However, there seems to me to be no good reason why anyone wanting to meet up for dogging purposes, whether posting as a couple or as a single, needs to post an advert anonymously - your profile "nick" name provides you with that anonymity, unless you are wanting to mislead other members with your posting (i.e. the FAKE posts, by people never intending to actually be there, but rather getting their kicks out of messing other people around!). People who do so, need to get out of the habit of routinely posting anonymously.... So my suggestion is that we should all just IGNORE the anonymous posts, and consider that they are likely to be fake anyway. If they are ignored, and nobody rushes out to Virginia in the vain hope that "something might happen", then the anonymous posters will eventually get the message that they are wasting their time that way. By posting with your profile name revealed, but without disclosing all the details of your intended meeting place and or time, then interested parties can contact you directly, and meetings can be effectively arranged (time, exact location, vehicle details, etc), removing some of the risk element from the encounter. By posting as "Anonymous", members will be indulging in a fruitless exercise... Be safe out there, fellow doggers! Take reasonable precautions!!
