doggin in potchefstroom
Hi Jack,
I pass through Potch frequently, at least every 2 or 3 weeks or so, sometimes more often, as I do a lot of work in Carletonville and Klerksdorp / Orkney. I have been trying to find doggers in Potch, but unsuccessfully. According to some website (maybe this one, maybe SAPlaymates, maybe both), there is supposed to be a "dogging site" in Potch opposite the TrimPark, on the east side of the MooiRivier (entrance is through a gate on the north end). I have been there often, at different times of the day. It is obviously well used as a "naaiplek" by locals, but I have never seen anything there that looked like it was proper "dogging" (where others are welcome to watch or join in). Mostly it's just couples in cars having a skelmpie, if anything is happening (some people just sit there and eat their lunch!), and they don't want you looking at them!
If you are successful in identifying any dogging in Potch, or in getting something started yourself, please let me know by way of a message, as I would love to be involved.

In Potch there is an old "Trim Park" / exercise area just to the north of the Mooi Rivier Mall, as Voyer says.
Coming into Potch from JHB, follow the N12 in heading towards the police station and Klerksdorp. Pass Mooi Rivier Mall on your right. Immediately after the Mall, at the robots turn right into Govan Mbeki R53 (think it used to be called Mooi Rivier Drive). Pass through robot at entrance to the Mall parking. Cross over James Moroka (was Lombard?) at the next robot. Now the Trim Park is on your right. Turn right at the next robot (this is Retief Street going to the left , and Burger Street going to the right back towards Bailie Park). Entrance to the Trim Park proper is immediately on your right. This is WEST of the Mooi River. However, I don't think too much happens at the Trim Park itself...
So, pass the entrance to the Trim Park in Burger street, cross the small bridge over the Mooi River, and then immediately on your right is another big gate, leading into a park area to the EAST of the Mooi River. Follow the dirt road through this park back towards the Mall (but it is a dead end). THIS seems to be the area used as a "skelmpie" place in Potch, and can be entertaining. But, like I said, I have yet to see any definite proper "dogging" happening there. If there is, please let me know when it happens!!!

If anyone does go there to play in there car, just put a cigarette box ontop of the roof above the drivers window this will indicate to fellow doggers that there is some fun happenin and they can join/watch...

I will be going down to Klerksdorp for business on Wed and Thursday, passing through Potch, but unfortunately will have a work colleague with me going down and back. Sleeping in Klerksdorp, but will try and get back up to Potch on Wednesday early evening, and hang around in the park (east of the river) and see what happens. In a white Isuzu d/cab. Any couples from Potch wanting to put on a show?

Glad we could meet up, even if just for a short chat. I stayed for a couple of hours, but there was no dogging! Yes, there was a slow trickle of cars coming in and parking up for a while during the evening, but they all chose to park in dark and secluded areas, no lights on, so definitely private skelmpies. One couple in an old Cressida with heavily tinted windows had their light on initially, I could see through the front windscreen from a distance that there was some heavy petting / groping going on, but as soon as I moved a bit closer the light went off...! One couple came in and parked up quite close to my position, and I thought I might get lucky, but they only stayed a few seconds, and then drove straight out again. Frustrated again...
Like I said, maybe you should approach Potch-based members on a personal level, interact and develop a relationship maybe over a coffee meet, and then see if there is anything more happening in Potch than just these private skelmpies.
