A Forum is not a Chatroom.
A Forum is based on an archive system, so that important topics that are discussed can be view and referenced later. Chatroom conversations are lost when you log out.
Forums are therefore meant to carry information that has long term value and can be referenced easily.
It does not rely on daily, let alone hourly post to be effective.
That is not to say it should not be 'Chatty' or busy, as long as valuable threads are respected.
On our forum, threads can easily be created by any member, so if one wishes to have a chat, it is easy to create a separate thread for that.
How is it controlled?

Therefore it is the duty of the Mod keep threads clean and to maintain discipline.
This will determine the long term value of the archive and also the relationship between members.
If a member or members will not allow threads to run their course it will cause conflict.
That member should be disciplined by the Mod before other members feel the need for reprisal.
It should not be left up to another memberto hand out a Cyber 'bitch slap' to address continues personal insults by a specific member.
In the mean time no apology was offered for the personal insults to my wife and I.
So I then pose questions to the mod that cuts to the bone and some of you are offended.
And that is not a Clique?
I hope the next Mod has a firmer hand, to which I'll gladly submit.
So here is the deal:
We'll gladly and sincerely give and accept any apology required.
When we have time, we'll keep on posting on issues that have value to us.

What is a Forum?
Firstly. Sorry you're stuck with me. I'm still here. I'm still the moderator.
Secondly personally attacking individuals on this site/forums. Unacceptable.
Further personal attacks will result in banning. Please cease immediately.
Whatever slights you have suffered will most likely not be apologised for, as all the people who have apparently slighted you have left the forums and are no longer contributing because of your behaviour.
Thank you for destroying everyone's fun, the community and friendships that took years to build. Very well done.

Question: are we talking about a forum or a police state here?
I understand a forum is to contribute, share advice and so on but also a place to talk and joke with like minded people. A forum though is not a wikipedia or an achieve of material, if that's what you want then we may as well bring back some of Lee's and PiB's post, achieve them on the first page and shut the forums down to cut out contamination.
Also it is not the mods job to read every post and pass judgement and sometimes people reply before a mod can delete offensive or insulting posts.
It seems to me that you have confused a forum with a purely intellectual university thesis discussion table. Still I find it quite funny how someone new to the forum is now dictating to existing members how they should act on their own forum, unless all these posts are here to chase away existing members so that you can rebuild a forum in your own image. If that's the case, viva le SH, viva le resistance.
