I'm posting this in the hope of getting people's opinion on Covid and swinging. I'm sure like on most other platforms and social media sites there will be some nutbags who would want to debate the origin, numbers, vaccination etc with YouTube videos as "proof"...but this isn't for you zany bunch, mkay.

So as a couple we decided to approach the pandemic as we do with most things, including swinging...weigh up the risks. We did have a play session or 4 the last year, but it wasn't during curfew, and with people we know, trust and have played with before. We had opportunity to meet new people...but even a simple meet is tricky, between work and where due to most restaurants currently not being a viable option. We might be overtly cautious, borderline paranoid...maybe...but working in the medical field, I've seen firsthand the damage Covid can do.

Question is...how are other people approaching meets and play session during this interesting time? Is the risk worth it, or are other people also on a semi hiatus in meeting new people?

I feel meets, especially with physical contact, should not happen. You, as an individual, might survive covid if exposed. The people who get it from you, however, might not. Is a year off really that bad?

Just my 5 cents worth!

Personally it’s impossible to completely unwind and let the hair down & cock up in this context. Therefore have not played at with myself lol

It seems as though I decided to explore this lifestyle ( and not only in my mind anymore ) at probably the worst time ever as now I'm comfortable enough to meet couples physically, yet the thought of covid lingers in the back of my mind, and I'm sure with most people as well. I think most people are still very cautious at the moment.

Sooner we vaccinate the sooner we play BUT a black mask does often feature in my saying. Maybe a nurses outfit will help too 😉

True... I will have to co-ordinate the mask, the outfit and my Jimmy Choo heels with each other.

If I'm not mistaken its been 15 months since the first Covid-19 infection was reported in South Africa. Like with many others we decided to suspend all in-person meets since March 2020 and have reached the stage where our social lives are non-existent.

Looking at the latest daily infection rates it is clear that we made the correct decision but at what price? We have been quite surprised by what an impact our social lives made on our general well-being as individuals and are starting to struggle with the constant isolation with zero sexy and fun interactions.

Would be interesting if other couples could share their experiences.

Your sentiments are applicable in general to all aspects of life not just pleasure play. Humans are social beings. Isolation is kryptonite to us!

So true on all fronts you cant do what you are used to do there is a curview socialise dont exsist makes life stress full the things you did to chill and let go off the daily stress of life is not there anymore well it is but people are scared to practice it because of the virus and this creates more stress and depro reactions we are human beens yes we need human interactions at least we still have each other as a couple but we do whant to socialise and let go from time to time and give each other some space

All I can say is be very very careful, not just here but everywhere.

I got exposed through a family member who thought they just had a sinus infection. No fever, no myalgia, nothing. I tested positive and went straight into isolation.

This virus is not your average flu, even if you only had a light case such as me. It is not worth getting it.

There are other ways to enjoy yourself with other people thanks to Zoom or MS Teams, even video calling. And if all protocols are observed, a quick coffee meeting can be just as productive to lay a good foundation for future meets, but unless everybody is willing to pitch up at a party with negative test results, it might be best to refrain from physical play for now.

Glad to see this is getting some comments, finally!

We cut down not only plays, but vanilla meets too. We're turning down invites, but still host 1 or 2 super close friends. We weren't hermits before this, not just very social...so adapting wasn't that difficult for us.

Glad to read most people are playing it safe(r)...

@Mr_Mrs_Jade, our sentiments exactly.  Initially we expected a couple of months, it's now going on 18months in isolation, no meets and greets, no playing with others etc.   But what is there to do but continue waiting and hope the end is near for this pandemic.

Stay safe everyone

We have finally a glimmer of hope in what would appear to be a bottomless pit of darkness. We both received our first shot of the Phizer vaccine and according to the research we have done it would be reasonably safe for us to have human interaction again from the 17th of September onwards if the daily infection rates are under control.

Sure the vaccine is not a silver bullet against contracting Covid but the published data indicated that the chances of getting life-threatening ill from Covid is relatively low after the vaccine and is a risk that we are considering taking for the sake of our mental and sexual health.

I was almost ready to venture out the to date, then I got covid. That flattened me, drove my libido into extinction. Even though that was towards the end of the 1st wave, I've had covid  twice more. It's shorter every time, but i've found that self pleasure has become a normal thing for me.

From what I am reading in the press this virus may not go the way of the  poliovirus and might be more like the flue virus , which sucks, and not in the good way. So we locked down tight in the first wave. Then when lockdown eased we actually hosted a meet n greet, in an open reserve and that was a good day and attended a club .Then the second wave came and we went all turtle power and went into our shell again and when the numbers went down we did a few weekend trips away and hosted a outdoor (vanilla) party for Vix. Close friends and family and lots of fire pits around the yard( I had enough wood this time Mr H)  and then the third wave hit and we went back into our crypts and this time I think it was the fear of contracting the virus when the vaccines were so close . I would go 4 or 5 days without leaving the house , the gym was a distance memory and  all the delivery drivers knew me by name. It's 2 weeks to go till the second jab and I can't wait. It will be back to the gym and diet and in a few months a trip to introduce Vix to my Capetown friends

In our view life goes on .

We also took a step back , but really missed being hands on . So now we just treat it as any other risk . You do your best to be safe and live life .

Honestly for people in this life there is so much worse than covid out there .

And with summer almost back , it's definitely time to get back on that horse

It is here to stay.

The original vaccine was developed to fight the the SAR-S virus hence only a year to perfect ... well almost, to fight COVID.

We are as humans are very social by nature as most of you have pointed out and without been able to interact, touch or connect we fall apart.

Covid scares the shit out of me as I lost my dad to it. BUT ----- been vaccinated has given both my wife and myself new hope.

What we have done is to stick to 1 couple who we trust and felt comfortable with. New meets are for later.

We feel that slowly meeting others may now be on the cards------ vaccination certificate required. may sound crazy, but be safe, live safe, PLAY SAFE.

Our new normal is up to us all. Don't sit back and watch the time go by..... live today RESPONSIBLY ...

Very well said Happyfeet....we're at the same place now. Playing with 2 regulars we trust, fully vaxed, and cautiously eager to meet new people. Baby steps getting back into this.
