wow. that must have been very very awkward? cant imagine what would go through my mind if something like this happens to us? I guess it will depend on witch family member it is.

They probably feel exactly the same way you do about it . .
Well I can't say that I ever found family on here, but I've certainly found (A LOT of) friends...
I've been authing pics before and come across images of my own friends.
Wild considering that there are only like 6 members in my town/area!!
None of them know, that I know - I've never contacted them or, if we were already chatting, basically just ended any contact that we did have on the site (like you would with any profile you decide you don't want to meet) and I've still continued to be friends with those people IRL, but just avoided connecting on the site. Easy.
One of my mates I found, I told him because we really wouldn't have minded playing with him, and his response was "Oh you naughty people! I should have known!" But in the end he left the lifestyle because he started a new relationship.
No biggie.. Most likely I would deal with a "family situation" in the same way.
My favorite turn down has to be... "Thanks but you resemble a family member way too much and I'm just not attracted to you as a result."
I figure that would work for me in the "family situation" just as well as if it was justa resemblance lol
