People looked for interesting stuff to read and sorry that's not happen. There was a time that the forums was real active but some people spoiled it, and yes they also gone.
Lot of people are scare to put up treads because they did not knew what they can do and what not. Then there are the people that feel they would be crucify for treads putting on, where did you draw the line. Its a fact if you go to far, people get to you with everything they had.
Perhaps we must ask Pib again to put some stuff on, she had so many stories or fact to share.
Advertising might be a way to go because there are a lot of people did not even knew there are forums were they can log in and asked there questions. Like something in the pool, telling people of the interesting topic been discussed in the forums. Like a pop up, but that would be from Admin side.
When you a sign to the site they asked if you want to received the news letter of the site, i am a long member and not see any news letter at all. I knew of a site sending out such stuff that are very interesting for the members. but that would mean worked for admin.
