Hi All

We have noticed an ugly trend here on SH - people accept invites to a party or function and then just don't show or bother to cancel. And before anyone blame the single guys again (yes, some of them are guilty) this happens mostly with couples.

Firstly - this is not only disrespectful to the hosts but also to the other people attending. There is nothing more frustrating to any host to cater for a certain amount of people and less than half of those that accepted invites bother to pitch

Secondly - spare a thought for those couples and singles that are looking forward to meet the people behind the nicks....and then they don't show.

Guys and Girls - if you are not planning to join a party or private function...PLEASE DO NOT ACCEPT and Invite!

Sometimes, just sometimes, it is better if it happens from the outset, so you can draw a line through their name and never ever invite them again. A few years back I arranged a meet & greet at a local strip club. They opened an hour earlier for our benefit and set up a lady to show the women pole dance moves, etc, etc.   Specific couples were invited and they had to RSVP, as a minimum number of guests was part of the arrangement with the club owners. In came a couple (i.e. before official opening time), went sitting at a remote spot from where they watched us. A weeks later it came out that they were one of the couples who accepted the invite. They never mingled with us, nor introduced themselves - just perved all evening long. That is one step worse than not pitching. A year or 2 later when we had a regular group going, their begging fell on (completely) deaf ears.
