I still remember our first MFM experience because it started most unexpectedly.
We were at a wedding function, enjoying ourselves, when my husband quietly pointed out a man across the room.
“He keeps checking you out,” he whispered.
I laughed and tried to ignore it, but then my husband gave me that mischievous smile and dared me to make the first move.
The funny thing was, we had once casually touched on the idea of bringing another man into our relationship. Nothing serious. Just a fantasy we’d mentioned and then left sitting somewhere between curiosity and imagination.
Until that night.
I walked over to him, introduced myself, and suddenly that little fantasy didn’t feel quite so imaginary anymore.
There was an instant spark. The conversation was innocent enough, but the looks between us certainly weren’t.
Knowing my husband was watching, knowing this stranger was attracted to me, and knowing I had actually been brave enough to make the first move, sent a rush through me that I hadn’t expected.
For the first time, I stopped worrying about what I was “supposed” to want. I simply allowed myself to enjoy being desired.
By the end of that evening, I was floating.
On cloud nine.
On the way home, I couldn’t stop thinking about what I experienced.
I asked myself, why the hell did it take me so long to admit that I wanted this?
That spontaneous dare opened a door to a side of myself I’d been too shy to acknowledge.
Once I’d stepped through it…
I knew I wasn’t going to shy away from it again. I was not going to close myself off from it again.
