 I bought one about 14 years ago and tried it a few times. Don't think i did it 100% correctly (for fear of causing permanent damage).

Hi PIB - yes the bottle is on the soft but stiff side. It took me a while to get the correct stifness and size. The newer bottles tend to be too stiff to use it for this purpose. When heated with lukewarm water it becomes even a bit more softer.  After insertion with my pinky inserted at the side I compress the bottle, pull out my pinky and its done.
