Young couples.

Over the last few years I have noticed that more and more recently married couples become swingers,I have to admit that I do struggle to understand what brings young newlyweds into swinging. If you are already looking for something else within the first few years of marriage. Why is that??? Swinging was originally a concept designed for *older* married couples who were honest enough to say that although they love their spouse, they wouldn't mind having a different experience from time to time. For these couples this revelation came after 10 to 15+ years of marriage. Or am I wrong???

Why do young couples feel that they need variety right from the start?  

Noticed that too. Mind you, we started swinging even before we were married...so guessing we can't judge. BUT...we have learned to avoid playing with newbies, regardless of age or marital status. Just too much issues, usually jealousy issues popping up.

At the ens of the day we would rather play with a couple that recognized their sexual needs and wants early on in a relationship, than a couple using swinging as a tool to "spice up" a sexually boring marriage. 

The advent and proliferation of social media in the last 10 years means that information flow has extrapolated significantly. Hell...  I found out about swinging through an app. Considering how much time younger generations spend on their phones - it's natural that they would be exposed earlier. Swinging has become mainstream. It's no longer confined to private secretive chats and obscure messages in small ads in newspapers. 

If you know about the raunchy (and very risky/risque) games being played at teenage parties these days (rainbow / roll-on roll-off) you would get a clearer indication of how much earlier teens are being exposed to swapping and kinks.

I also noticed that younger people attend parties at club Rome and they seem used to it

Eish, thinking of this, really makes me feel way older (and jaded) than what I am already!!!

@2some4fun   I am SO VERY glad I never had kids. Just thinking about the reality of what you are saying!!!

I can't really comment on this post because I was already swinging in High School and i have been part of the lifestyle ever since.

We are also members of SH (UK) and I'm amazed how different South Africa is to the UK.

In the UK the average age for couples starts at about 50-55years (70%members on there). So It definitely is more of an older crowd  there.

I think that the younger generation doesn't really need to belong to swingers websites thanks to the internet and tinder.

@PoohC  I  really should not say YOUNG people, but more young couples just married. I myself started out in my VERY early 20`s and all for the WRONG reasons aswell.

 Is there ever a "wrong reason" to liberate yourself and have fun though?

@ 2some4fun   Oh YES, there sure are.....If you start out for all the wrong reasons. 

i think some couples only discover the swinging lifestyle longer after married. we only discovered it when i was horny as hell one night about 6 years ago, and asked the mrs if she ever fantasized about being with another guy. obviously the answer was no. not the answer i was looking for, but luckily that went from no to yes in 10 minutes. then we started browsing and found SH. even after 10 years of being married and 6 years of swinging, we surprise ourselves about what we haven't done yet or thought of, and find things that makes us horny. and if you do all these weird and wonderfull stuff with a bit of weed. oh man. makes everything sooo much more enjoyable. especially when role playing.

I was friends with a couple from my very early 20's,we always had sex together and still when they eventually got married. It was my friends wife who initiated the having sex with each other,although my friend was very keen on her having sex with other men besides me,she never did was bisexual and always had girls join us for group sessions or for her and her husband. I found that very interesting,it's usually my feeling the husband would want another woman,yet she was the one bringing women and never other men. 

well we consider ourselves a young couple for us the hubby was swinging before we started dating and I was bi curious already and when we started dating we wer very open and honest about wanting to explore our sexual fantasies and it carry’s on into our marriage we married 10 years now and swinging. been open about our sexual fantasies and having the opportunity to experience it with each other has made our marriage strong but also fun and never boring so I don’t think it’s only for couples married a long time and because the older couples are looking for something new it’s for people who want to share the sexual fantasies with dey partner and enjoy it with them no matter what’s the age I honestly don’t think swinging has a age or how along you married limit

Ever considered that it mightbe a "sign of the times"?

30 or 40 years ago society was still largely conservative. Pre-marital sex was frowned upon heavily and couples could not wait for their wedding night to experience sex.  As such, the newness of the act kept them occupied a LOT longer before the inevitable itch set in and they became curious about other people sexually.

Fast forward to today......every teen has a smart phone, sex and sexuality being promoted at every opportunity. Teens engage in sex and even group sex while still in highschool. When they get married, sex is not a new thing and swinging is persued to give that next amazing dopamine high.

 I think anybody above the age of 30 feels that way! 😂 i see the apps the younger generations frequent and then slang/abbreviations created for each and I am as lost as a mouse in a circular maze with no exit!

I am 56 now and have been in the "Lifestyle" for a week or two.

When I got involved initially, all we had was the "Contact" magazine. My Word,....what a shlepp it was....?? There was NO cellular comms then, NO internet, No clubs, (out in the open) or for that matter "ANY" social media.

Having been involved since those "Forbidden Years", May I say, alot has changed. In those years "Swinging" was all about "Swapping Partners".

Things have evolved since then. Many Clubs are now available for People to visit. Also....there has been a "HUGE" change in mindset since then. Social media has also played a HUGE roll in this change. A "SHAG" as we knew it back then, has moved on vastly from those days and is now just a "Happy Fun Time", as opposed to all those years ago, when it was seen as Taboo...??

So as mentioned by contributors to this blog, yes, MUCH has changed and evolved, if I may say so.

Things are FAR more Liberal today than 10 years ago. The youth "grow up", and mature faster, and are "Much more aware" than we ever were, simply because, in our day, it was frowned upon.

Society today is wayyyyyy faster than when we "Grew Up".

 Indeed. Scroll through profiles on Instagram......I recently started looking at that platform and I was floored..... young ladies, 15 - 16 years old, obviously trying to immitate older social media influencers, in poses and outfits that would make a young Madonna blush!

Now, I am not saying they should not do that, but 15 years ago that would have been unheard of displaying yourself to the world like that. Growing up too fast.......
